How To Make Bread Machine Hot Dog Wraps

Follow these easy steps to make these bread machine hot dog wraps.

Get Out Your Bread Machine

I love to use my bread machine in this recipe! It’s so easy!! Just add all of the dough ingredients to the bread machine

Roll The Dough

Dump the dough from the bread machine onto a floured pastry mat or clean surface. Roll the dough out on the floured mat into a 16″ circle.

Don’t worry if your circle isn’t perfect! It’ll be fine!

Divide the Dough into 8 Wedges

Cut the dough like the pizza. Start by halving the dough, then quarter it, and divide each quarter in half to get 8 even slices (view the images below).

Add and Roll the Hot Dogs

Add the hot dog to the top of each wedge of dough. If I am using a pizza analogy to describe what this looks like, then it will look like the hot dog is the “crust” of the pizza slice. If you want to add cheese or cooked bacon to the hot dog wraps, add these underneath the hot dog.

When the hot dog is added on to the dough, roll the hot dog around the dough to create a crescent. Let the hot dogs rise on a tray for 30 minutes for the dough to rise.

Bake Them Up!

When the hot dog wraps have risen, bake them in the oven at 375℉ for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Serve with your favorite condiments for dipping. Or cheese sauce. Because cheese sauce is always yummy.

Hot Dog Wrap Bread Machine Dough

I LOVE my bread machine!!! To be honest, I actually don’t bake a lot of bread in it, but I use it pretty much weekly to make dough. Pizza dough, stromboli dough, hot dog wrap dough, bread dough, you name it. Why? It’s so easy, and it helps the dough rise so well!

With a bread machine, you can just dump in the ingredients and come back in an hour and a half to beautiful, workable dough. I use a Hamilton Beach Bread machine, and I can’t recommend it enough. Mine is well-loved and a few years old, but if you are looking for a similar (but newer) model check out this bread machine: $89.99 Hamilton Beach Bread Machine.

If you are looking to find a bread machine for really cheap, check out your local thrift store. I always see bread machines there! With a little bit of searching and cleaning, you can get a bread machine great deal! My mom has found 2 bread machines this way!

How to Make Bread Machine Hot Dog Wraps Without a Bread Machine

You can totally make this recipe without a bread machine! This is what you’ll need to do differently:

  1. Add warm water (110℉) to a bowl along with the sugar and yeast. Let the yeast bloom for about 10 minutes, or when the yeast appears to have a foamy cap.
  2. To the yeast mixture add the milk, an egg, melted butter, and salt. Stir/ fold in bread flour to form a dough.
  3. On a floured surface, dump the dough mixture and knead it into a smooth ball for about 10 minutes.
  4. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl and cover in a warm spot for 1 hour and 30 minutes. The dough should double in size.
  5. Continue on with the rest of the recipe’s instructions as normal.

The Ingredients

These Bread Machine Hot Dog Wraps are very budget-friendly and excellent to make for a crowd! With a few simple ingredients, you can make these hot dog wraps easily!

Butter Or Margarine

The butter or margarine adds a bit of richness to the dough. If you are using a bread machine, you can add room temperature or melted butter. Without a bread machine, melt the butter. If you use salted butter in your recipe, you might need to adjust the salt levels in the dough.

Egg

Egg emulsifies the fats and liquids together into the dough.

salt

You need to add salt to your hot dog wrap dough for flavor! Be careful not to over-salt the dough.

bread flour

Bread flour will yield the BEST fluffy hot dog wraps. You can also use all-purpose flour, but the rise will not be as generous with all-purpose flour.

sugar

Sugar feeds the yeast and helps it to activate. A little sugar adds a little sweetness to the dough.

yeast

Yeast makes the dough rise. I use dry active yeast in this recipe. For the best price on yeast, try buying it in the bulk section of your grocery store.

hot dogs

Choose any hot dogs that you like. For plain hot dogs, I suggest Aldi’s All-Beef dogs. But if you like a little kick, then I suggest using jalapeno cheddar hot dogs for something a little different!

Additional Variations

Throughout the years, I have experimented with lots of different toppings and types of hot dogs! Sometimes I will make a double batch and make a few different types of bread machine hot dog wraps! There is a lot you can do with this recipe, so feel free to be creative and make what you enjoy. Listed below are some of our favorite variations of hot dog wraps that I 10/10 recommend.

Cheese Hot Dog Wraps

Add 4 slices of cheese

Halve 4 slices of American cheese (or your favorite cheese). Place half the slice of cheese underneath each hot dog. Roll up your wraps.

Bacon Cheese Hot Dog Wraps

Add 4 slices of cooked bacon and 4 slices of cheese

See notes for the cheese dogs above. Additionally, add half a slice of cooked bacon to the hot dog and cheese and roll up your wraps.

Specialty Hot Dog Flavors

I love playing around with hot dog or sausage flavors! We LOVE jalapeno cheddar hot dog wraps. If you live in or near Central PA, like me I suggest John F. Martin’s Jalapeno Onion Cheese Franks these are hands down, our family’s favorite hot dogs!

  • 2 1/4 cup bread flour
  • 4 tsp sugar

  • Cut the dough into quarters. Then cut the quarters in half to create 8ths. You should have 8 triangles of dough to work with.
  • Place a hot dog on the top of the wedge of the widest part of the dough. The hot dog should be placed opposite the tip of the dough.
  • Roll the dough around the hot dog. Start at the widest portion of the wedge and roll to the tip of the dough. Slightly press the dough into itself as you roll.
  • Place the rolled hot dog wraps on the sheet pans lined with parchment paper. Let the hot dogs rise for 20 minutes.
  • In the meantime, preheat the oven to 375℉.
  • When the hot dog wraps have risen, bake them in the oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
