Tips to Make the Best Seasoned Pretzels with Taco Seasoning

Don’t Forget the lime juice

I am a firm believer that a little bit of citrus makes ALL the difference in a recipe. These pretzels are no exception! The lime juice adds the perfect “lift” to this recipe. The acidity lightens the pretzels and brings the pretzels into a whole new level of FLAVOR. I see so many seasoned pretzel recipes that skip out on the citrus. Don’t overlook it in this recipe either.

Let the Pretzels Cool

Before storing the pretzels, give them time to cool and “set.” The pretzels should be cool to the touch, and you should no longer feel the “oil” on them.

Cook at a LOW Heat

Nobody wants a burnt pretzel. We want to make sure that the seasoning adheres to the pretzels, but we don’t want our pretzels to end up burnt! Set the oven to a low temperature (250 degrees Fahrenheit) so that the taco pretzels don’t overbake.

How to Store Your Pretzels

These seasoned pretzels taco seasoning and lime are wonderful to prep ahead of time for lunch box snacks, company snacks, or even a party.

Let your pretzels cool completely, before attempting to store the pretzels. Otherwise, your pretzels will become stale quickly and or could become “soggy” from the container’s condensation. Once your pretzels are cooled, store your seasoned pretzels in a sealed gallon-sized plastic bag or container.

Seasoned pretzels will last in a sealed container for around 2 weeks.

Seasoned Pretzels Ingredients

These seasoned pretzels are made with only 4 ingredients– most of which you can find in your pantry already!

  • 1 lb bag of pretzels (16 oz)
    • You can use any type of pretzel that you like in your recipe. I like to use mini twists because I think that they have a good amount of surface area to coat the pretzels, and are more bite-sized than larger varieties.
  • 1 low-sodium taco seasoning packet
    • I typically try to pick up a packet of low-sodium taco seasoning since the pretzels themselves are already quite salty.
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
    • Vegetable oil is used as a flavorless oil to coat the pretzels and adhere to the seasoning of the pretzels.
  • 2 limes, juiced
    • The citrus juice adds the PERFECT amount of acidity to the pretzels and elevates the taco seasoning.
