Strawberry Cottage Cheese Overnight Oats

Okay, so I recently found THE overnight oats recipe. I have probably tried thousands of oats recipes, but this strawberry cottage cheese overnight oats cup is my ABSOLUTE favorite! The secret to the BEST overnight oats: cottage cheese!

Trust me, it’s SOOOO good! Don’t sleep on adding creamy cottage cheese to your oats– it will take your breakfast to a whole new level!

This healthy strawberry cottage cheese overnight oats has a creamy strawberry oats base with layers of fresh chopped strawberries. It’s the perfect way to start your day with a decadent feeling breakfast that’s pretty healthy and packed with protein!

Strawberry Cottage Cheese Overnight Oats

Overnight oats are a very simple, but delicious breakfast that you can meal prep the night (or several nights) before! The dairy added to dry rolled or old-fashioned oats absorbs into the oats overnight to create a creamy, decadent, and refreshing breakfast.

While you can eat overnight oats all year round, cold oats are one of my favorite recipes for summer breakfasts. And it’s perfect for adding some fresh spring and summer berries!

Is this Overnight Oats Recipe Good for Meal Prep

YES!!!

You can make this strawberry cottage cheese overnight oats recipe up to 4 days ahead of time! Just make sure to keep it covered in the refrigerator.

My husband and I are both teachers. During the school year, we basically live on meal prep! I honestly don’t know what we would do if we didn’t meal prep. This for sure is a go-to recipe to make our mornings a bit more peaceful before we enter the classroom!

How To Make Strawberry Cottage Cheese Overnight Oats

Ready for your new breakfast staple?

This healthy strawberry cottage cheese overnight oats recipe is filled with all food-you-feel-great-about ingredients and only takes 5 minutes of prep time the night before! That’s right while watching your favorite show (hello, Office and Friends re-runs) you can make yourself this decadent breakfast that’s wayyyy healthier than it tastes!

Here’s how you make it:

Prep The Ingredients

Get out 1 meal prep dish. (Or more if you are doubling or tripling this recipe.)

Mix rolled oats, milk (dairy or non-dairy), strawberry jam, and cottage cheese together.

Layer the Overnight Oats…Because Astethics 😉

I mostly layer my overnight oats because I think it looks pretty. And I don’t know about you, but when my food looks pretty, I seem to actually eat the food I meal prepped.

But honestly, if you don’t really care what it looks like, you can ABSOLUTELY dump all the ingredients together and stir. It’s up to you! You do you!

If you are going to layer, I suggest adding a layer of overnight oats, diced strawberries, then more overnight oats, and topping the whole thing off with more strawberries.

Cover and Refrigerate

Cover your meal prep containers before adding them to your fridge, to preserve the taste and the life of your overnight oats. Overnight oats need some time to soak up and create that delicious creamy texture that overnight oats are best known for. You’ll want to refrigerate your oats for at least 4 hours, but preferably, overnight.

Eat Your Heart Out

Have you ever made (or eaten) a “healthy” recipe that’s really only healthy because the serving size is about the same size as your thumbnail? Yeah, that’s not this recipe!

I like to eat! You will not be let down by the size and satiating ability of your strawberry cottage cheese overnight oats. This is a recipe that somehow straddles the line of feeling hearty AND somehow light at the same time. The oats and cottage cheese pack in some great protein that will help keep your belly from grumbling before lunch! Enjoy!

Strawberry Cottage Cheese Overnight Oats Ingredients

5 ingredients with less than 5 minutes of prep time?! That deserves some kind of a breakfast award!

Check out the 5 ingredients you’ll need, along with some suggestions and substitutions.

milk:

You can use any type of milk that you like to use or have on hand. Since this recipe already has cottage cheese in it, it’s not dairy-free (unless you use vegan cottage cheese). Still, even with dairy, I will typically add almond milk to these oats instead of regular dairy milk.

rolled oats:

Rolled or old-fashioned oats are a MUST in this recipe. Yes, technically you can use quick oats, but not to be a snob, but the texture just is not that good.

cottage cheese:

This is the ingredient that makes all the difference. Cottage cheese makes overnight oats decadent and extra creamy. I think that cottage cheese is WAYYY better in overnight oats than Greek Yogurt, which you might also see used. You can swap out the Greek Yogurt for the cottage cheese, but cottage cheese is honestly, just better.

berry preserves or jam:

A little bit of jam adds more fruity flavor as well as a little sweetness! I use strawberry jam or raspberry preserves in my strawberry cottage cheese overnight oats (it usually just depends on what already I have on hand). I use about one tablespoon of prepared jam or preserves when I make my oatmeal, but if you want it a bit sweeter, feel free to add a little more jam or a bit of honey.

strawberries:

Fresh strawberries crown this breakfast with a beautiful, fresh pop of red! You’ll want to add about 1/4 cup of diced berries (about 2-3 strawberries) to each overnight oat for a bit of freshness. Feel free to swap out the strawberries for other types of berries.
